Empowering Women and Children with their Rights
Volunteers focus on empowering women and children, in small, under resourced, rural communities with limited to no access to legal resources otherwise. Volunteers assist Panamanian lawyers to conduct legal clinics and provide workshops on human rights topics to empower communities.
Human Rights brigades are only available during summer months.
Individual Program Contribution
Volunteers work together with their chapter to fundraise for their individual contributions. Each individual program contribution includes everything needed for the Human Rights Brigade: local lawyers, translators, support staff, ground transportation, food, lodging, supplies, and emergency medical insurance. Airfare not included.

Global Brigades does an annual safety review of all lodging facility partners each year. Lodging facilities provide pillows, bedsheets and towels. Facilities have showers, toilets and sinks with running water (no hot water) as well as filtered clean drinking water dispensers onsite. 24-hour security is provided at all facilities. Conditions are most similar to a comfortable summer camp, with dormitory-style sleeping and shared bathrooms.
Human Rights Brigades are assigned to lodging facilities based on proximity to the partner community they will be working with.
